Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

pi-intro

v0.2.7

Published

A cinematic startup overlay and bottom spacer for Pi.

Readme

pi-intro

A cinematic startup overlay for Pi.

pi-intro demo

Try without installing

pi -e npm:pi-intro

This runs the published package for the current Pi invocation without adding it to your project configuration.

Requirements

  • Pi 0.80.7 or newer

Install

pi install npm:pi-intro

Restart Pi. The intro completes automatically, or press Escape to skip it.

What it does

  • Lets Pi continue its remaining post-TUI startup work behind the overlay instead of blocking startup on the animation.
  • Skips the overlay when Pi resumes a session through --session, --continue, or --resume.
  • Starts at Pi's supported session_start hook, so a brief normal Pi frame may appear first; initial extension and skill discovery has already completed.

Customization

Interactive: /pi-intro

Run /pi-intro inside Pi to pick a preset (or a custom word), then edit the bottom message in a prefilled editor — empty hides it. Enter persists immediately to ~/.pi/agent/pi-intro.json (no save key needed) and the intro replays as a live preview. The choice greets you when Pi starts without resuming a session; env vars below override the saved file when set.

Environment variables

Pick a preset with PI_INTRO_STYLE, or override the pieces with PI_INTRO_WORD, PI_INTRO_COLOR, and PI_INTRO_TAGLINE. Env vars override the saved ~/.pi/agent/pi-intro.json. Restart Pi after changing them.

Presets

| PI_INTRO_STYLE | Big word | Color | | --- | --- | --- | | (unset) / pi | PI | your theme's accent (default) | | shopify | SHOPIFY | Shopify green #95BF47 | | hacker | HACKER MODE | phosphor green #00DC41 | | coffee | COFFEE TIME | espresso #C08051 | | beast | BEAST MODE | rage red #E74C3C | | prof | PROFESSOR | golden chalk #F1C40F | | winter | WINTER IS COMING | ice blue #7FD4FF |

Custom presets also show WELCOME BACK under the big word, in your theme's muted color.

PI_INTRO_STYLE=shopify pi

Custom overrides

Overrides win over the preset. The word uses a built-in block font (A–Z, space, apostrophe); long words shrink to fit narrow terminals.

PI_INTRO_WORD=LEO PI_INTRO_COLOR=#0ea5e9 PI_INTRO_TAGLINE="BOM DIA" pi
PI_INTRO_STYLE=hacker PI_INTRO_WORD=ROOTED pi

Invalid hex colors fall back to your theme's accent.

Security and data access

Read SECURITY.md for private vulnerability reporting and docs/access.md for the package's exact file access. pi-intro starts no subprocesses and makes no direct network requests.

Development
