Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

pi-session-recap

v0.1.1

Published

Handoff recaps for Pi sessions — a short summary plus the next action, written into the transcript when a session ends

Readme

pi-session-recap

npm license

A Pi extension that writes a handoff recap into the transcript when a session ends, so resuming starts with where you left off.

※ recap: Goal was porting the SEO-audit parity backlog into the codebase; that's built,
         migrations are applied to prod, and PR #65 is pushed and verified to merge
         cleanly against main.
  Next: check the PR's CI status, then merge it.

Install

pi install npm:pi-session-recap

Or from a checkout of this repository:

pi install .

How it works

  • The recap is generated when it is actually needed — on session_shutdown (quit, /new, /resume, /fork) and on /recap. Nothing runs in the background during normal work.
  • reload shutdowns are skipped: the conversation continues, so a card there would be noise.
  • The recap is stored as a custom session entry, so it re-renders in place when the session is resumed, and it never enters LLM context.
  • A resumed session reuses its last recap as the base, so each new recap updates the story instead of restarting it.
  • On quit, the same two lines are printed to the terminal after Pi exits.
  • A mirror copy is written to ~/.pi/agent/state/session-recap/<session-id>.json for other tools to read.
  • If nothing happened since the last recap card, no new card is written.

Commands

| Command | Description | |---------|-------------| | /recap | Generate a recap now and append it to the transcript. |

Configuration

Optional, at ~/.pi/agent/config/pi-session-recap.json:

{
  "model": "anthropic/claude-haiku-4-5-20251001",
  "auto": false,
  "idleDelayMs": 20000,
  "exitTimeoutMs": 15000,
  "printOnExit": true
}

| Setting | Default | Description | |---------|---------|-------------| | model | active model | provider/modelId used to generate the recap. | | auto | false | Pre-warm the recap after idleDelayMs of inactivity, so quitting does not wait on a model call. | | idleDelayMs | 20000 | Idle time before the pre-warm runs (only used when auto is true). | | exitTimeoutMs | 15000 | How long shutdown may wait for the recap before giving up. | | printOnExit | true | Print the recap to the terminal after Pi exits. |

Development

npm install
npm run typecheck
npm run pack:dry-run
