Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

React hooks, masked input components, and Zod/react-hook-form resolvers for Pakistani CNIC, phone, and passport validation. One install — no separate core/resolvers packages required.

Readme

pk-validators-react

React hooks, masked controlled input components, and (via a subpath) Zod + react-hook-form resolvers for Pakistani CNIC, mobile phone, and passport numbers. One package — validators are re-exported from @pk-validators/core internally, so you never need to install that separately.

Install

npm install pk-validators-react

React >=18 is a peer dependency. zod and react-hook-form are optional peer dependencies, only needed if you import pk-validators-react/resolvers.

Components

import { CnicInput, PhoneInput, PassportInput } from 'pk-validators-react';
import { useState } from 'react';

function Form() {
  const [cnic, setCnic] = useState('');
  const [phone, setPhone] = useState('');

  return (
    <>
      <CnicInput value={cnic} onChange={setCnic} locale="en" />
      <PhoneInput value={phone} onChange={setPhone} locale="ur" />
      <PassportInput value="" onChange={() => {}} />
    </>
  );
}

All three forward standard <input> props, set aria-invalid and aria-describedby correctly, mask/format the value live as the user types, and accept a locale="en" | "ur" prop for bilingual hint/error text.

Hooks

import { useCnic, usePkPhone, usePassport } from 'pk-validators-react';

const cnic = useCnic();
// { value, rawValue, formatted, onChange, isValid, isComplete, gender, error }

const phone = usePkPhone();
// { value, rawValue, formatted, onChange, isValid, isComplete, e164, carrier, error }

isComplete is true once enough characters have been entered to make a final valid/invalid determination — it's false, not an error, while the user is still mid-input.

Plain validator functions

Re-exported from @pk-validators/core for non-input use (validating on submit, server actions, etc.):

import { validateCnic, validatePkPhone, validatePassport } from 'pk-validators-react';

Zod schemas + react-hook-form resolver

import { pkResolver, pkCnicSchema } from 'pk-validators-react/resolvers';
import { useForm } from 'react-hook-form';

const { register, formState } = useForm({
  resolver: pkResolver({ cnic: true, phone: true }),
});

Requires zod and (for pkResolver) react-hook-form installed — see the root README for details.

Storybook

npm run storybook # dev server, localhost:6006
npm run build-storybook    # static site → storybook-static/

Includes a "Getting Started" Introduction page plus stories covering empty, while-typing, valid, invalid, and both locales for every component.
