playframe
A harness and engine for building browser multiplayer games with AI coding agents: strict game contracts (Brief and Spec), a deterministic server-authoritative simulation, headless simulation and rules, and a CLI whose every command prints one JSON envelope an agent can read.
Install
npm i playframe
npx playframe init --game=my-game
npx playframe status
npx playframe simulate --game=my-gameRequires Node 22.12 or newer. The package ships TypeScript source: use it with tsx, Vite or Vitest (tsx is a dependency and runs the CLI).
Commands
init, status, validate, simulate, diff-behavior, load, assets, rules, capabilities, new ability, check, version.
Run npx playframe help for usage. Optional playframe.config.json: { "gamesDir": "games", "budgetsFile": "tools/budgets.json" }.
Library
Subpath exports such as playframe/core, playframe/simulation, playframe/game-spec, playframe/replication, playframe/physics-3d.
three, @dimforge/rapier3d-deterministic-compat and @colyseus/sdk are optional peer dependencies; install them only for the
features that use them.
Status
Version 0.x: the API can change between minor versions. MIT licensed.
