polarmemory_openclaw

PolarDB-PG long-term memory plugin for OpenClaw.

Provides auto-recall (injects relevant memories before each prompt), auto-capture (stores conversation turns after each agent turn), and memory tools (memory_search, memory_add, memory_list, memory_delete) — all backed by a polarmemory server deployment.

Install

Four commands are required. plugins install alone is not enough.

openclaw plugins install npm:polarmemory_openclaw
openclaw plugins enable  polarmemory_openclaw
polarmemory setup --agent openclaw --api-key '<KEY>' --base-url http://<IP>:<PORT>
openclaw gateway restart

If the polarmemory CLI is not installed, set environment variables instead of running polarmemory setup (see Configuration below).

Configuration

The plugin reads ~/.polarmemory/config.json → agents.openclaw section. Alternatively, set environment variables (they take precedence):

Features

Auto-Recall

Before each prompt, the plugin searches stored memories for context relevant to the user's input and injects them into the system context as a <recalled-memories> block.

Auto-Capture

After each agent turn completes successfully, the current turn (user + assistant messages) is sent to the server for fact extraction and storage.

Memory Tools

All tools accept optional user_id / agent_id parameters to operate on a different memory namespace:

SKILL

A SKILL file (skills/polarmemory-memory/SKILL.md) is bundled, teaching the host agent how to use the memory tools via natural language triggers.
