Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

prompt-delay

v0.1.2

Published

Delay Codex prompts with /wait and /steer using a UserPromptSubmit hook.

Readme

Prompt Delay

Website · npm · GitHub

Prompt Delay adds /wait and /steer to Codex so you can submit a prompt now and have Codex wait before handling it.

The important part: the delay runs in a Codex UserPromptSubmit hook before the model request. The agent is not asked to run sleep, and the marker skill files only exist so /wait and /steer can appear in completion.

Install

npx prompt-delay

Restart Codex after installing. If Codex asks you to trust the new hook, approve it.

Alternative install from GitHub:

curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/brahimhamichan/prompt-delay/main/install.sh | bash

Use

/wait 10s hello
/wait 1 min summarize this repo
/wait 1.5h queue run the test suite
/wait 1h 30min continue after the limit resets
/wait 2 hours steer focus only on release blockers
/steer 30 seconds keep the final answer concise

Supported duration forms include:

1s
1 sec
1 second
1 seconds
1m
1min
1 min
1 minute
1 minutes
1h
1 hour
1 hours
1.5h
1h 30min
1 h 30 min
2 hours

How It Works

Prompt Delay installs:

  • ~/.codex/hooks/prompt-delay-hook.py
  • ~/.codex/skills/wait/SKILL.md
  • ~/.codex/skills/steer/SKILL.md

The hook intercepts prompts that start with /wait, /steer, $wait, $steer, or Codex's linked skill form. It parses the duration, runs /bin/sleep, and then adds the delayed prompt as Codex hook context.

Codex hooks currently support adding context before the model request, not replacing the visible user message. That means the hook can guarantee the wait happens first, but the visible chat line remains the command you typed.

Uninstall

npx prompt-delay uninstall

This removes the Prompt Delay hook and marker skills from ~/.codex.
