Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

##Create queuemangaer

      collectionName: 'jobshandler', // collection to use - NEEDED - will be created if not found

##Create job

    async jobHandler.add(jobType: string, jobData: any, scheduledAt?: number, customIdentifier?: string | number);
    // schedule job in 20 minutes
    Ex: await jobHandler.add('findemail', { firstname: 'boris', lastname: 'tchangang', domain: 'adomain.com' }, (new Date().getTime() + 20 * 3600 * 1000), 'scheduledAt-me-now'); 

Last parameter 'scheduledAt-me-now' in the example above is an identifier to identify an action in the queue. You can use this identifier later to check if an action is already waiting to be played in the queue.

##Retrieve a job

    async jobHandler.checkForActionScheduled(jobType: string, customIdentifier: string | number);
    // schedule job in 20 minutes
    Ex: await jobHandler.checkForActionScheduled('findemail', 'scheduledAt-me-now'); 

You can use this action to check if something similar is already pending in the queue.

Handle job

    jobHandler.on(jobType: string, conccurrency: number, callback)
  • jobType should be type of job you want to dequeue.
  • conccurrency is the number of parallel job allowed
  • callback is a function that take 3 parameters:
    • first parameter is jobData
    • second is a function named complete that should be call when the job is complete to remove job from queue.
    • third is a function name requeue that should be call when the job failed to re-insert job in queue with a delay.

Exemple

   jobHandler.on('findemail', 10, async (jobData, complete, requeue) => {
     // jobData is { firstname: 'boris', lastname: 'tchangang', domain: 'adomain.com' }
     // process job data to whatever you want
     const email = await searchEmail(jobData.firstname, jobData.lastname, jobData.domain);
     if (email) {
       await saveEmail(email);
     }
     // call complete or requeue after
     complete();
   });
