Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

ramose

An immutable, Datomic-inspired graph database for Cloudflare (Workers + Durable Objects + R2), built on Effect. Your data model is one TypeScript value; queries and authoritative operations are portable values too.

bun add ramosedb effect@rc

npm install and pnpm add work the same. effect is a required peer: operation input and output codecs are Effect Schemas, and declaring the peer keeps strict dependency resolvers on one compatible Effect instance. Alchemy comes with RamoseDB. Apps using ramosedb/better-auth also need the optional peers better-auth and zod.

RamoseDB is pre-release: expect the API to change between minor versions.

The public entries

| Import | What it is | | --- | --- | | ramosedb/db | Portable schemas, fields, queries, owned operation types, and tagged errors. | | ramosedb/client | The offline-first browser client: createClient, interned database handles, local query execution over a durable authorized replica, and framework-neutral subscriptions. | | ramosedb/react | React hooks for queries, operation receipts, synchronization state, and Suspense. | | ramosedb | Deployment resources: Server, Database, JWT claims, providers, and HTTP error mapping. | | ramosedb/worker | The peer Worker itself. Hand it to Alchemy as main: import.meta.resolve("ramosedb/worker") — main is a path, so a bare specifier there silently resolves to nothing. | | ramosedb/better-auth/client | Browser credential provider with bearer caching, renewal, offline fallback, and sign-out cleanup. | | ramosedb/better-auth | The Better Auth plugin that mints the identity JWT a peer verifies. Needs optional peers better-auth and zod. |

App schemas use Ramose.string() / boolean() / enumeration([...]). Declare operations inside an entity or trait’s operations callback. Operation codecs import effect/Schema from the application's declared Effect peer.

A first look

// schema.ts
import * as Ramose from "ramosedb/db";

export const Todo = Ramose.Entity("todo", {
  title: Ramose.string(),
  done: Ramose.boolean(),
});

export const Todos = Ramose.Schema("todos", { todo: Todo });

Todos.applyPolicy(({ policy }) => {
  policy.todo.read.always();
});
