Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

PasswordGenerator

The PasswordGenerator class is a utility for generating random passwords based on specified options.

Installation

You can install the PasswordGenerator package using npm:

  npm install random-pwd-gen

Usage

Import the PasswordGenerator class and create an instance with the desired options:

import PasswordGenerator from 'password-generator';

const options = {
  length: 10, // Length of the password (default: 12)
  useNumbers: true, // Include numbers in the password (default: false)
  useSymbols: true, // Include symbols in the password (default: false)
  useLowercase: true, // Include lowercase letters in the password (default: false)
  useUppercase: true, // Include uppercase letters in the password (default: false)
  excludeSimilarChars: true, // Exclude similar characters like 'l', 'I', '1', etc. (default: false)
  excludeChars: 'abc', // Exclude specific characters from the password (default: "")
  requireOneCharFromEachPool: false, // Require at least one character from each enabled character pool (default: false)
};

const generator = new PasswordGenerator(options);

const password = generator.generate();
console.log(password); // Example output: "A7#gR5x9P2"

Options

The PasswordGeneratorOptions interface defines the available options for configuring the password generation:

interface PasswordGeneratorOptions {
  length?: number; // Length of the password (default: 12)
  useNumbers?: boolean; // Include numbers in the password (default: false)
  useSymbols?: boolean | string; // Include symbols in the password (default: false)
  useLowercase?: boolean; // Include lowercase letters in the password (default: false)
  useUppercase?: boolean; // Include uppercase letters in the password (default: false)
  excludeSimilarChars?: boolean; // Exclude similar characters like 'l', 'I', '1', etc. (default: false)
  excludeChars?: string; // Exclude specific characters from the password (default: "")
  requireOneCharFromEachPool?: boolean; // Require at least one character from each enabled character pool (default: false)
}
  • length: The desired length of the password.
  • useNumbers: Set to true to include numbers in the password.
  • useSymbols: Set to true to include symbols in the password. You can also provide a custom string of symbols.
  • useLowercase: Set to true to include lowercase letters in the password.
  • useUppercase: Set to true to include uppercase letters in the password.
  • excludeSimilarChars: Set to true to exclude similar characters like 'l', 'I', '1', etc.
  • excludeChars: A string containing specific characters to exclude from the password.
