Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

React component for rapid-grid

Readme

rapid-grid-react

React component for rapid-grid. The grid engine remains in rapid-grid; this package manages its React lifecycle.

Install

npm install rapid-grid-react react

rapid-grid is installed as a dependency. Import the React package's stylesheet for the default grid appearance.

Use

import { useRef } from 'react';
import { RapidGrid, DataType, type RapidGridCore } from 'rapid-grid-react';
import 'rapid-grid-react/style.css';

const items = [
  { id: 1, name: 'Notebook', price: 12.5 },
  { id: 2, name: 'Pen', price: 2.5 }
];
const columns = [
  { binding: 'id', width: 80, dataType: DataType.Number },
  { binding: 'name', width: 180 },
  { binding: 'price', width: 120, dataType: DataType.Number, format: 'c2' }
];

function Products() {
  const gridRef = useRef<RapidGridCore>(null);

  return (
    <RapidGrid
      ref={gridRef}
      items={items}
      columns={columns}
      style={{ height: 500 }}
      onSelectionChanged={(_grid, event) => console.log(event.ranges)}
    />
  );
}

The component gives its host a 400 px height by default; set style.height to fit your layout. The ref receives the underlying rapid-grid instance after mount and becomes null on unmount. onGridReady also receives it after the event handlers are attached.

items changes update the existing grid. Changes to columns or construction options recreate it because the core grid sets those options in its constructor. Keep array props stable with React state or useMemo when you want to retain grid state across renders. Event callback changes do not recreate the grid. Grid editing mutates the supplied item objects, as in the core package.

All core options and grid events are available as props. The package also exports core enums, CellRange, and types; the class itself is exported as RapidGridCore.
