Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

react-business-card-hfbp

https://www.npmjs.com/package/react-business-card-hfbp

what and why

Very lightweight (almost vanilla, we just use Bootstrap and SCSS) ReactJS business card template.

Has very beta "print card" support (showPrintButton=true). If you use it, you will realize, I am bad at CSS.

upload to npmjs.com

npm test
npm run build
npm publish

how to use

npm i business-card-hfbp

Then you can look into index.tsx for a sample (run npm start to see it for realsies), or just use below code.

<BusinessCard
    showPrintButton={true}
    name={'Henry Post'}
    cell={'xxx-xxx-xxxx'}
    skills={[
        'Python',
        'Java',
        'Kubernetes',
        'Helm',
        'Linux',
        'SQL',
        // 'Documentation',
        // 'Backend APIs'
    ]}
    frontBlurb={
        <img
            src={'https://pbs.twimg.com/profile_images/1560595569730617344/yuAzEGGl_400x400.jpg'}
            style={{
                width: '7.5em',
                height: '7.5em',
            }}
            alt={"A picture of Henry smiling"}/>
        // null
    }
    backBlurb={
        <Container>
            <p>
                I have an intense drive to explain, document, and teach programming and technology concepts.
                When creating code, I strive to create reusable, clean, and well-documented code.
                I have a wide and deep history of programming projects, all under version control and most
                on my GitHub:

                <p style={{textAlign: "center"}}>https://github.com/HenryFBP/</p>
            </p>
            <p>
                In short, I love to program, teach, and document my work; and I would say that I’m very good
                at it.
            </p>
        </Container>
    }
    headlines={[
        'Cybersec',
        'Automation Engineer',
        // 'Fullstack Java',
        'Helm & K8s',
        'L2 Support & DevSecOps'
    ]}
    email={'resplendent [dot] falconeer [at] gmail [dot] com'}
    location={'Chicago | Martha\'s Vineyard'}
    website={'henrypost.net'}
/>

i dont like the design/etc

change it! you got the source code :3c

fork and PR or just fork and rename it/copy the source code

<3

no, the font looks different!!

You need to include Bootstrap <style> tag or import it.

ex:

import 'bootstrap/dist/css/bootstrap.min.css';

Run

npm start

test

npm test

TODO

  • use parcel js bundler - needed for publishing TypeScript modules
  • move all other than bootstrap to devDeps
  • copy https://github.com/spa5k/is-url-online/
