Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

React choropleth maps for Chilean regions, provincias, and comunas, backed by processed cartography from the Biblioteca del Congreso Nacional de Chile (BCN).

Regional subdivision components lazy-load their bundled geometry:

Opt into exact data keys for any of the 16 regions with the generated code types:

ComunaCode<R> and ProvinciaCode<R> expose the exact bundled code unions. These types are optional, so dynamic records and custom topology codes remain supported by the component props.

Both accept an optional topology override for SSR, tests, preloading, and custom cartography. Units without data use a configurable gray fill, and invalid/unknown values are ignored with aggregated development-only warnings.

Shared features include linear/quantile scales, controlled selection, custom colors and tooltips, lazy loading fallbacks, typed callbacks, localized featureLabel formatting, and stroke/fill/both highlighting.

The formatter changes default tooltip and SVG accessibility labels while callbacks retain the canonical BCN feature.name.

Official territorial codes are zero-padded strings:

  • regions: two digits ("13");
  • provincias: three-digit CUT ("131"); and
  • comunas: five-digit CUT ("13101").

The generated topology covers the national territory present in the BCN sources, including Rapa Nui and Juan Fernández through automatic side insets. The BCN source provides no Antarctic geometry, and very small islets may be removed by the documented generation thresholds.

Source: Biblioteca del Congreso Nacional de Chile (BCN), mapas vectoriales. The material is referential and is not suitable for work requiring geodetic precision. Maps depicting Chilean limits and borders do not bind the State of Chile.
