Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

error-boundary-react

Simple reusable react error boundary component for React 16+

This project was bootstrapped with Create React App.

git clone https://github.com/RatneshChauhan/error-boundary-react.git

Title

React Error Boundary

Description

A JavaScript error in a part of the UI shouldn’t break the whole app. To solve this problem for React users, React 16 introduces a new concept of an “error boundary”. Error boundaries are React components that catch JavaScript errors anywhere in their child component tree, log those errors, and display a fallback UI instead of the component tree that crashed. Error boundaries catch errors during rendering, in lifecycle methods, and in constructors of the whole tree below them.

Usage

  • buttonType: Allows you to decide which button you want on the error dialog. You can keep one or all. Simply provide a blank value for the button type you don't want on the dialog
  • buttonLabel: Allows you to provide labels of your buttons on the dialog. The order of button labels is same as that of your button types.
  • autoScrollBodyContent: When set to true, gives you a vertical scroll on the dialog for its content.
  • customContentStyle: Allows you to override default styling with your custom styling.
  • onClick: Allows you to call a function
  • closeOnClick: Allows to decide whther to close error dialog on click of a button. Defaulted to false.

When error occurs during rendering, in lifecycle methods, and in constructors of the whole tree below them, a material-ui error dialog appears to the end user
