Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

India-specific form validators for React — PAN, Aadhaar, GST, IFSC

npm version npm downloads license

Why?

Every Indian web app that deals with KYC, payments, or taxes needs to validate PAN, Aadhaar, GST, and IFSC. Writing regex and checksum logic from scratch every time is painful. This package does it for you.

Note: Validators are framework-agnostic — works with plain JS too, not just React.

Install

npm install react-india-forms

Usage

PAN Validator

import { validatePAN } from 'react-india-forms';

validatePAN('ABCPD1234E');
// { valid: true, type: 'Individual', pan: 'ABCPD1234E' }

validatePAN('INVALID');
// { valid: false, error: 'PAN must be exactly 10 characters' }

Aadhaar Validator

import { validateAadhaar } from 'react-india-forms';

validateAadhaar('2345 6789 0126');
// { valid: true, masked: 'XXXX XXXX 0126' }

validateAadhaar('012345678901');
// { valid: false, error: 'Aadhaar cannot start with 0 or 1' }

Includes Verhoeff checksum validation — not just format checking.

GST Validator

import { validateGST } from 'react-india-forms';

validateGST('07ABCDE1234F1Z5');
// { valid: true, state: 'Delhi', pan: 'ABCDE1234F', stateCode: '07' }

validateGST('50ABCDE1234F1Z5');
// { valid: false, error: 'Invalid state code: 50' }

Returns the state name and embedded PAN automatically.

IFSC Validator

import { validateIFSC } from 'react-india-forms';

validateIFSC('SBIN0001234');
// { valid: true, bank: 'State Bank of India', bankCode: 'SBIN', branchCode: '001234' }

validateIFSC('SBIN1001234');
// { valid: false, error: 'Invalid IFSC format. Expected: AAAA0NNNNNN' }

Identifies 20+ major Indian banks by code.

API Reference

All validators return an object with:

| Field | Type | Description | |-------|------|-------------| | valid | boolean | Whether the input is valid | | error | string? | Error message if invalid | | ...extra | varies | Additional parsed data (see per-validator docs above) |

React Example

import { validatePAN } from 'react-india-forms';
import { useState } from 'react';

function PANInput() {
  const [pan, setPan] = useState('');
  const result = validatePAN(pan);

  return (
    <div>
      <input
        value={pan}
        onChange={(e) => setPan(e.target.value)}
        placeholder="Enter PAN"
        maxLength={10}
      />
      {pan && !result.valid && (
        <p style={{ color: 'red' }}>{result.error}</p>
      )}
      {pan && result.valid && (
        <p style={{ color: 'green' }}>✓ Valid {result.type} PAN</p>
      )}
    </div>
  );
}
