Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

react-native-textinput-multiline

The fix proposed on this library has been merged to the react-native v0.60, so this library is not recommended for version 0.60+

This library is just a temporary workaround for the TextInput multiline bug. It's not meant to be used for production as it relies on native React Native implementation and that could change between versions.

This library is meant to be used to fix an Android Native bug that prevents the input from breaking line when set to multiline and a numeric keyboardType. On iOS it just provides the native TextInput from react-native, and on Android it extends the default React Native TextInput to provide the bug fix.

Getting started

$ npm install react-native-textinput-multiline --save

Mostly automatic installation

$ react-native link react-native-textinput-multiline

Manual installation

iOS

There is no need for iOS installations as it exposes the native React Native TextInput on that platform.

Android

  1. Open up android/app/src/main/java/[...]/MainActivity.java
  • Add import com.muritavo.RNReactNativeTextinputMultilinePackage; to the imports at the top of the file
  • Add new RNReactNativeTextinputMultilinePackage() to the list returned by the getPackages() method
  1. Append the following lines to android/settings.gradle:
    include ':react-native-textinput-multiline'
    project(':react-native-textinput-multiline').projectDir = new File(rootProject.projectDir, 	'../node_modules/react-native-textinput-multiline/android')
  2. Insert the following lines inside the dependencies block in android/app/build.gradle:
      compile project(':react-native-textinput-multiline')

Usage

import TextInput from 'react-native-textinput-multiline';

render() {
	return (
		<TextInput
			keyboardType="numeric"
			multiline={true}/>
	)
}
