Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

react-native-toasted

This React-Native toast library offers style and layout customization by supplying your own display components.

By supplying your own display component, you can pass any props you need, and structure the contents however you want.

Installation

yarn add react-native-toasted

Usage

Basic syntax

If Toasted.add is called with a string or React node, it will be passed into the display component as the content prop.

import Toasted from 'react-native-toasted';

Toasted.add('Get Toasted!');
Toasted.add(<Text>Get Toasted!</Text>);

Full-props syntax

To override the duration or display component for a single toast, use the full-props syntax.

Toasted.add({
  content: 'Get Toasted!',
  duration: 3500,
  ToastComponent: ({ content }) => <View><Text>{content}</Text></View>
});

Also use the full-props syntax to implement your own custom props.

Toasted.add({
  icon: 'star',
  text: 'Get Toasted!',
  duration: 3500,
  ToastComponent: ({ icon, text }) => (
    <View>
        <Icon name={icon} />
        <Text>{text}</Text>
    </View>
  )
});

Manually dismissible

Assign a falsy value for duration to keep the toast open indefinitely.

Dismiss a toast at any time by calling the close function, provided as a prop.

Toasted.add({
  content: 'Get Toasted!',
  duration: null,
  ToastComponent: ({ content, id }) => (
    <View>
        <Text>{content}</Text>
        <Button title="Dismiss" onPress={() => Toasted.remove(id)} />
    </View>
  )
});

Note: You may also remove a toast at any time by calling the global Toasted.remove method with the toast's id (this is also available as a prop).

Global configuration

To set the default props and display components for all toasts, call Toasted.configure once in your app (before calling Toasted.add).

(Here we import the default components for demonstration, but you can supply your own.)

import Toasted, { DefaultToast, DefaultToastContainer } from 'react-native-toasted';

Toasted.configure({

  // Set default props for every toast
  defaultToastProps: {
    duration: 3500,
    ToastComponent: DefaultToast,
  },

  // Override the container (controls stacking and position)
  ToastContainerComponent: DefaultToastContainer,
});

Running the example app

You can find an Expo app in the examples directory. Run it with yarn install && yarn start.
