Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

Recording Notes

A web application for taking edit notes during podcast, music, or video recording, with real-time collaboration. Export notes to REAPER, Audition, or Resolve to speed up post-production. Integrates with SquadCast, Bitfocus Companion, or your own tools to keep your recording clock in sync with the note timestamps.

Quick Start

npx recordingnotes start

Or install globally:

npm install -g recordingnotes
recordingnotes start

Open http://localhost:3000 in your browser. node v24 or higher is required.

Demo

A demo version is available at recordingnotes.onrender.com. It resets itself after 15 minutes without activity.

  • Real-time note-taking - multiple users can annotate the same session simultaneously
  • Timestamps - supports relative timestamps for automated sessions or time-of-day for manual sessions
  • Session management - create, edit, and delete recording sessions
  • Export - download notes as timeline markers in formatted CSV (REAPER, Audition) and CMX3600 EDL (Resolve) files
  • Integrations - automated session management via webhooks and the triggers API
  • Guest access - generate shareable guest links for single-session collaborations (/?token=xxx)
