reference-builder
Reference Builder is a neutral, beginner-friendly Nuos-backed harness for starting software projects. It has one public command:
npx reference-builder initRun it from an empty project directory. It initializes Git when needed, then creates a small project state page, a decision-record guide,
the method file, and native instructions for Codex CLI, OpenCode, and Claude Code. It does not run
nuos-builder init and does not contain a course, lesson, or project-type pack.
Options
init defaults to --mode=coaching. The available modes are:
--mode=coaching— plain-language guidance for a beginning builder.--mode=standard— the same neutral method with less coaching wording.--mode=developer— the same method with implementation details visible.--no-llm— record that optional local LLM setup was skipped; initialization itself remains local.
Unknown options, non-empty targets, Git subdirectories, symlinked targets, and repeated initialization are refused before the first generated file is written.
After initialization, use /start-of-session in the coding runtime you prefer. The generated
docs/build/STATE.md contains one recommended next action and is the durable place to resume.
Local package checks
From this directory:
npm run build
npm packThe package depends only on the public nuos-builder/harness-kit entry point at runtime.
Coordinated release
Release the root nuos-builder package first so the published [email protected]
dependency and its public harness-kit entry point exist, then release this package.
This work unit prepares both packages and does not publish either one.
