Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

reminded

v1.0.1

Reminded SDK for React Native/Expo

Readme

Reminded SDK

npm version

Reminded provides notification infrastructure for mobile apps, functioning as an alternative to services like Resend but focused on push notifications.

Requirements

The SDK is designed for use with React Native and Expo.

  • react >= 18
  • react-native >= 0.70
  • expo >= 48
  • expo-notifications

You will also need a Reminded Project ID and API Key.

Installation

npm install reminded

Usage

1. Setup Provider

Wrap your application root with RemindedProvider to initialize the SDK. This should be done as early as possible in your application lifecycle (e.g., inside app/_layout.tsx) to ensure all events and notifications are captured correctly.

You can optionally pass pathname to track screen views.

// app/_layout.tsx
import { RemindedProvider } from 'reminded';
import { Stack, usePathname } from 'expo-router';

export default function RootLayout() {
  const pathname = usePathname();

  return (
    <RemindedProvider
      config={{
        apiKey: process.env.EXPO_PUBLIC_REMINDED_API_KEY,
      }}
      pathname={pathname}
    >
      <Stack />
    </RemindedProvider>
  );
}

2. Instrument Events & Users

Use the reminded singleton to track events, identify users, and request permissions.

import { Button, View } from 'react-native';
import { reminded } from 'reminded';

export default function HomeScreen() {
  const trackEvent = () => {
    // Track custom events with properties
    reminded.event('game_session_start', { game_name: 'wordle' });
  };

  const identifyUser = () => {
    // Link anonymous session to a specific user
    reminded.identify({
      external_id: 'user_12345',
      email: '[email protected]',
      plan: 'premium',
    });
  };

  const requestPermission = async () => {
    // Request push notification permissions and auto-register token
    const status = await reminded.requestNotificationPermission();
    console.log('Permission status:', status);
  };

  return (
    <View>
      <Button title="Track Event" onPress={trackEvent} />
      <Button title="Identify User" onPress={identifyUser} />
      <Button title="Enable Notifications" onPress={requestPermission} />
    </View>
  );
}

Logging Configuration

You can configure the logging verbosity to help with debugging.

import { RemindedProvider, LogLevel } from 'reminded';

<RemindedProvider
  config={{
    apiKey: '...',
    loggerEnabled: true, // Defaults to true
    logLevel: LogLevel.DEBUG, // Options: DEBUG, INFO, WARN, ERROR, NONE
  }}
>
  {/* App Content */}
</RemindedProvider>;
  • loggerEnabled: Toggle all logging on or off.
  • logLevel: Set the minimum level of logs to output. LogLevel.DEBUG is useful for development to see all events and network requests.
