Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

remodex-cli

v1.3.20

Published

Local bridge between Codex and the Remodex mobile app. Run `remodex up` to start.

Readme

remodex-cli

remodex-cli is the desktop bridge for Remodex. It connects the Remodex mobile app to the local Codex runtime on your computer.

After installing the package, the command you run is still:

remodex up

Install

npm install -g remodex-cli

Then start the bridge:

remodex up

The published package includes the official Remodex relay by default:

wss://api.phodex.app/relay

That means normal users do not need to set REMODEX_RELAY manually.

Pair Your Phone

  1. Install the Remodex mobile app.
  2. Run remodex up on your computer.
  3. Scan the QR code from inside the Remodex app.
  4. Keep the bridge running while using the phone as your Codex remote.

The QR code is only for pairing. After a successful pairing, the app can reconnect to the trusted bridge while it is running.

macOS And Linux

On macOS and Linux, remodex up uses the built-in background service helper.

Useful commands:

remodex up
remodex status
remodex restart
remodex stop
remodex reset-pairing

Windows

On Windows, the bridge currently runs in the foreground. Keep the terminal open while using Remodex.

remodex up

If Windows Firewall asks for permission, allow Node.js on your current network.

Use Your Own Relay

You can override the official relay:

REMODEX_RELAY="wss://your-relay.example/relay" remodex up

On Windows PowerShell:

$env:REMODEX_RELAY="wss://your-relay.example/relay"
remodex up

For local testing from the source repo, use the local launcher in the repository root instead of the npm package.

Requirements

  • Node.js 18 or newer
  • npm
  • Codex CLI or Codex app-server access
  • Remodex mobile app

The package can try to install or update the Codex CLI during install. To skip that helper, set:

REMODEX_SKIP_CODEX_BOOTSTRAP=1

Troubleshooting

If remodex up says no relay is configured, update to the latest package:

npm install -g remodex-cli@latest

If pairing fails:

  • make sure the bridge is still running
  • scan the QR from inside the Remodex app
  • check that your computer can reach the relay URL
  • run remodex reset-pairing and pair again

If the command is not found after install, make sure your global npm bin folder is in your PATH.

Security

Remodex keeps Codex execution local to your computer. The relay is a transport layer. After secure pairing, app payloads are encrypted between the mobile app and the bridge.
