Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Reusable React Native API base URL settings modal and Axios activity monitor

Readme

Reqora

Reqora is a reusable React Native API base URL settings modal and Axios activity monitor. It is an independent package and does not depend on CoachCRM.

Requirements

  • React Native 0.72 or newer
  • Axios 1.6 or newer
  • react-native-safe-area-context
  • lucide-react-native
  • An async key/value storage adapter

Install

From another local app, use the package folder path:

npm install reqora

Install or retain the peer dependencies listed above in the consuming app. Wrap the app in SafeAreaProvider from react-native-safe-area-context.

Setup

Create the Axios instance used by the app, then create one manager instance at module scope. Pass your existing storage implementation, so base URLs persist in the storage system your app already uses. Existing authentication and unauthorized-response behavior can be supplied through callbacks.

import axios from "axios";
import { ApiBaseUrlSettings, createApiBaseUrlManager } from "reqora";
import { secureStorage } from "./secureStorage";

export const api = axios.create({ baseURL: "https://api.example.com/api" });

export const apiBaseUrlManager = createApiBaseUrlManager({
  axiosInstance: api,
  storage: secureStorage,
  storageKey: "api_base_url",
  getAuthToken: () => secureStorage.getItem("access_token"),
  onUnauthorized: () => authStore.getState().clearSession(),
});

export function App() {
  return (
    <SafeAreaProvider>
      <AppContent />
      <ApiBaseUrlSettings manager={apiBaseUrlManager} />
    </SafeAreaProvider>
  );
}

Mount ApiBaseUrlSettings once inside the app root and within SafeAreaProvider. The floating launcher will then remain available above app screens. Safe-area insets place it above device system bars, and the modal scrolls when its contents exceed the available height.

Manager API

  • getBaseUrl() reads the active URL.
  • saveBaseUrl(url) validates and persists an HTTP/HTTPS URL, then immediately changes axiosInstance.defaults.baseURL.
  • getActivity() returns recent request/response entries, with timing and sensitive values redacted.
  • subscribeToActivity(listener) subscribes to activity updates.
  • clearActivity() removes the in-memory activity history.

The package does not configure an Axios instance for you; pass the same instance your API calls already use. It adds interceptors once when createApiBaseUrlManager is called. Do not create the manager repeatedly during component renders.
