Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

rg-mfe-overrides

The rg-mfe-overrides CLI is a command-line tool designed to streamline the management of micro-frontends (MFEs). It simplifies handling override files, managing changes, and setting up development environments for MFEs.

Installation

To integrate the CLI into your MFE project:

Add rg-mfe-overrides as a dependency in your package.json:

"dependencies": {
  "rg-mfe-overrides": "git+https://github.com/raccoongang/rg-mfe-overrides.git#<version>"
}

Available Commands

1. Commit Changes

Moves modified or newly added files into a specified directory, such as frontend-build/overrides. The CLI automatically organizes the directory structure based on your MFE.

Usage:

node ./node_modules/.bin/mfe-cli commit <path>
  • <path>: Destination path where the changes should be committed (e.g., frontend-build/overrides).

Example:

node ./node_modules/.bin/mfe-cli commit ../frontend-build/overrides

2. List Changes

Displays a list of all modified or added files in your MFE workspace before committing. This helps ensure accuracy and minimizes errors.

Usage:

node ./node_modules/.bin/mfe-cli list-changes

Example:

node ./node_modules/.bin/mfe-cli list-changes

3. Apply Overrides

Copies or creates files from the frontend-build/overrides directory back into the working directory of your MFE. Useful for applying override changes.

Usage:

node ./node_modules/.bin/mfe-cli apply-overrides <path>
  • <path>: Path to the override files you want to apply.

Example:

node ./node_modules/.bin/mfe-cli apply-overrides ../frontend-build/overrides

4. Install Frontend Build

Clones a specified Git repository, removes the node_modules directory, and installs @edx/frontend-build from the local repository. This is useful for developing and testing changes in the frontend build directly.

Usage:

node ./node_modules/.bin/mfe-cli install-frontend-build <git_repo_url>
  • <git_repo_url>: URL of the Git repository to clone.

Example:

node ./node_modules/.bin/mfe-cli install-frontend-build https://github.com/your-org/frontend-build.git
