Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

legal rights roles and skills, via rhachet

law is code. rules that govern behavior, enforced by systems. these roles help navigate that code.

mascot

this repo houses the eagle 🦅 — who soars above the landscape to survey the terrain and spot what matters from above.

why eagles? because they embody the principles of good legal work:

  1. 🦅 soar high — see the full landscape
  2. 👁️ sharp vision — spot the details that matter
  3. 🪶 precise — strike with accuracy
  4. 🏔️ claim peaks — identify what's defensible

the eagle wields:

  • 🌎 globe — for patenter — to survey prior art from a global perspective
  • 🪶 feather — for copyrighter — to protect the written word
  • 🪖 helm — for trademarker — to guard the brand in battle
  • 🏛️ column — for permiter — to cite the code that governs construction
  • 🔗 chainlink — for regulator — to compose the bounds of social contracts
  • 🔒 lock — for obligator — to secure the duties and terms
  • 🦺 vest — for indemnifier — to protect against claims and liability
  • ⚖️ scales — for counselor — to weigh exposure and guide review

utilities

🔎 transcriber

  • scale: document-level, content extraction
  • focus: OCR, text extraction, format conversion
  • maximizes: accuracy of scanned document transcription

used to extract text from image-based PDFs and scanned documents for downstream use.

note: transcriber is a utility role that supports legal research but isn't itself a legal role. it lives here for now but may move to a different registry in the future.

why open source

to help folks navigate legal systems more effectively, mutually. we all gain from transparent and open source legal exploration.

for lawyers: contribute upstream to help communities and advertise your expertise. fork and specialize to leverage your own curated robots. (want help to deploy your own specialized robot clones into your practice? let us know, we consult)

for normies: leverage open source legal exploration. although it is certainly not legal advice and you should always consult a lawyer before you make any decision, this gives you a robot clone to discuss with and explore ideas with.

let's raise the floor. mutually.
