Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Readme

runrun-it-mcp

MCP server for Runrun.it — exposes the Runrun.it REST API as tools usable by Claude and other MCP clients.

Status: v0.4. Exposes 30 tools for tasks, projects, clients, users, teams, boards, pipelines, custom fields, tags, and time tracking. Includes read/write for tasks and manual work periods, plus timer control.

Prerequisites

Installation

You don't install it directly — your MCP client launches it via npx. Choose your client below.

Claude Code (CLI)

Run once in the terminal to register globally:

claude mcp add --scope user runrun-it npx -- -y runrun-it-mcp \
  -e RUNRUNIT_APP_KEY=your-app-key \
  -e RUNRUNIT_USER_TOKEN=your-user-token

Restart Claude Code. Run /mcp to confirm runrun-it appears in the list.

Claude Desktop

macOS: edit ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json

Windows: edit %APPDATA%\Claude\claude_desktop_config.json

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "runrun-it": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "runrun-it-mcp"],
      "env": {
        "RUNRUNIT_APP_KEY": "your-app-key",
        "RUNRUNIT_USER_TOKEN": "your-user-token"
      }
    }
  }
}

Restart Claude Desktop.

VS Code (Claude extension)

  1. Open the Command Palette (Ctrl+Shift+P / Cmd+Shift+P) and run Claude: Open MCP Settings
  2. Add the following to the JSON that opens:
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "runrun-it": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "runrun-it-mcp"],
      "env": {
        "RUNRUNIT_APP_KEY": "your-app-key",
        "RUNRUNIT_USER_TOKEN": "your-user-token"
      }
    }
  }
}
  1. Save the file and reload the window (Ctrl+Shift+PDeveloper: Reload Window).

Alternatively, add it directly to your .vscode/mcp.json in the project root.

Updating

Because the server runs via npx, updates are automatic — npx always fetches the latest published version when it starts. No action needed.

To pin a specific version, change -y runrun-it-mcp to -y [email protected] in your config.

To check the latest published version: npm show runrun-it-mcp version

Getting your credentials

In Runrun.it: Configurações → Integrações → App to get the App-Key, and your personal User-Token from your profile page.
