Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

runstate-sdk

v0.3.0

Published

runstate SDK: wrap a function once and runstate coordinates it across every agent and worker

Readme

runstate-sdk

TypeScript SDK for runstate, the coordination layer for agent swarms. Wrap a function once where you define it, then call it exactly as before. runstate does the coordination inside the call: work done once per run, shared rate limits, slots, budgets, queues and stopping a run.

Published as runstate-sdk on npm, matching the Python package runstate-sdk on PyPI.

Install

npm install runstate-sdk

Requires Node.js 22 or later.

Configure

Set these in the environment:

export RUNSTATE_API_KEY=<your api key>
export RUNSTATE_SPACE_ID=<your space id>
export RUNSTATE_RUN=nightly # optional, default "default"
# export RUNSTATE_BASE_URL=http://localhost:8080   # optional, default https://api.getrunstate.com

The SDK reads them on the first call. Importing it makes no network calls. To configure in code, use runstate.configure({ apiKey, spaceId, run }) or new Runstate({ ... }).

Use

import runstate from 'runstate-sdk';

const research = runstate.once(researchCompany); // once per run for the same arguments
const search = runstate.limit('search-api', searchWeb, { max: 60, per: 'minute' });
const browse = runstate.slots('browser', openPage, { max: 5 });
const ask = runstate.budget('model-usd', callModel, { reserve: 0.4, cost: (r) => r.usd, limit: 50 });

await research('acme'); // looks like a normal call
await runstate.stop(); // every worker stops taking new work

Hand work to workers

// review.ts, imported by producers and workers
export const review = runstate.queue('review', async (doc: Doc) => scoreDoc(doc), { slots: 'browser' });

// producer
const score = await review(doc);
const accepted = await review.gather(docs, { need: 5, accept: (r) => r.score > 0.8 });

// worker
await runstate.serve();

Durations are seconds or strings such as '30s' and '10m'. Every error is a RunstateError; see the docs for the full list.
