Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

sass-height

v2.1.0

Published

Mixin to help calculate heights, line-heights and padding

Readme

SASS Height

Mixin to help calculate heights, line-heights and padding.

Installation

Reference the path relative to your main .scss file

Bower

  1. bower install sass-height --save-dev
  2. @import "../../bower_components/sass-height/sass-height";

NPM

  1. npm install sass-height --save-dev
  2. @import "../../node_modules/sass-height/sass-height";

Configuration

You can override any of the defaults by adding a $sassheight map object.

// Defaults:
$sassheight: (
  font-base: 16px, // must be a px value
  rem: true, // output as rem (true) or px (false)
  baseline: 4px, // any number
  debug: false // true will output variables as CSS properties
);

Usage

Font size and line-height

Return a font-size in rems and a unitless line-height equivalent to 16px. It uses the defaults listed above.

.type {
  @include height( 12px );
}

Set an arbitrary height

Return a font-size in rems, a unitless line-height equivalent to 16px and top and bottom padding (in rems) equivalent to 10px each (10 + 10 + 16 = 36).

.type {
  @include height( 12px, 36px );
}

Line height smaller than the font-size

The same as the previous example but this will have a smaller line-height resulting in text very close together

.type {
  @include height( 36px, 32px );
}

New in 2.0: Modify the baseline on-the-fly

This will round up to the next multiple of 8; just for the class this is called upon.

.type {
  @include height( 32px, auto, 8px );
}

Precision

You need to set the SASS decimal place precision to 7 to get the correct rounding in all browsers.
