Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

v1.3.4

Scalix Cloud CLI — manage databases, AI, storage, functions, and deployments on Scalix Cloud. Installs the prebuilt native binary for your platform.

scalix-cloud

The official CLI for Scalix Cloud — manage databases, AI, storage, functions, and deployments from your terminal.

npm install -g scalix-cloud
scalix-cloud --version
scalix-cloud login <token>
scalix-cloud db query "select 1"
scalix-cloud fn deploy ./my-function
scalix-cloud run deploy ./my-service

How it works

The CLI is a native Rust binary. This npm package is a thin launcher: on install (and, as a fallback, on first run) it downloads the prebuilt scalix-cloud binary that matches your platform from the corresponding GitHub release, verifies its SHA-256 checksum, and caches it inside the package.

Prebuilt platforms:

| OS | Architectures | |----|---------------| | Linux | x86_64, aarch64 | | macOS | Intel (x86_64), Apple Silicon (aarch64) | | Windows | x86_64 |

Environment variables

  • SCALIX_CLOUD_BIN — path to a scalix-cloud binary to use instead of downloading (e.g. a local cargo build -p scalix-cloud-cli build).
  • SCALIX_CLOUD_SKIP_DOWNLOAD=1 — skip the postinstall download (the binary is fetched on first run instead).
  • SCALIX_CLOUD_DOWNLOAD_BASE — override the release asset base URL (private mirrors).

Release ordering (maintainers)

The npm package version maps to a GitHub release tag (vX.Y.Z) whose assets it downloads. Publish order matters: tag + let the release workflow upload the per-platform binaries first, then npm publish. Publishing npm before the release exists means installs fall back to a first-run download that also can't find the assets yet.

Verification gate (before announcing)

Confirm a clean global install on each platform:

npm install -g scalix-cloud && scalix-cloud --version

Run on macOS (Intel + Apple Silicon), Linux (x86_64 + aarch64), and Windows (x86_64). Each should print the version matching the installed package.

Not to be confused with scalix (Scalix Coder, the AI coding agent).
