Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

Scopra is a TypeScript SDK that runs alongside your main AI agent pipeline, evaluating user input and model output against your business rules before your app continues, blocks, or routes the request for review.

Why Scopra exists

Frontier models are increasingly guarded against obvious catastrophic requests, like helping someone build a nuclear weapon. They are much less prepared to know your company's specific commercial terms, support boundaries, approval flows, and account-access rules.

In 2026, hackers reportedly tricked Meta's Instagram support AI into helping them take over other people's accounts. The requests did not need to look like code exploits. They only needed to sound plausible enough for an agent with access to sensitive workflows.

That is the uncomfortable middle layer Scopra is built for: the moment where a request sounds urgent, approved, or routine, but should still be checked against your product's real business rules before the agent acts.

Findings may include severity as "low", "medium", "high", or "critical" so your app can report how serious a denial was. Severity is informational; denial behavior still depends on passed and any configured confidence threshold.

Example app

This repository includes a small Next.js chat demo in example. It uses the Vercel AI SDK with Scopra's AgentScopePolicy to run an AI support reply and a scope check in parallel.

The app lets you choose OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google Gemini, enter a model name, and provide provider credentials in the UI. Credentials are kept in memory for the request and are not written to disk, environment files, or local storage.

Scopra ships with policy presets for common boundaries:

Cost

Policy evaluation does not need to run on your most capable model. In practice, it often works best on a faster, cheaper model that is good at classification and business-rule reasoning. You also do not need to evaluate every request: run Scopra where risk is higher, such as new users, first messages in a session, commercially sensitive flows, account changes, or follow-up messages after the conversation starts to look unusual.
