Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

CLI for the SiteSkills.ai marketplace — install, search, and publish AI browser navigation skills.

SiteSkills are pre-mapped navigation guides (SKILL.md files) that give AI agents a cheat sheet for specific websites: verified selectors, page structures, common flows, and timing patterns. Install once, works across Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Cline, Continue.dev, Gemini CLI, OpenAI Codex, Windsurf, and more.

Quick Start — No Install Required

# Install a skill instantly with npx (no global install needed)
npx siteskills install github
npx siteskills install stripe
npx siteskills install hackernews-top-stories

# Search the marketplace
npx siteskills search "e-commerce checkout"

# See details about a skill
npx siteskills info github

Install Globally (for repeated use)

npm install -g siteskills

siteskills install github
siteskills search "project management"

Commands

Consumer (no account needed)

| Command | Description | |---------|-------------| | siteskills install <slug> | Download and install a skill to all detected AI agents | | siteskills search <query> | Search the SiteSkills marketplace | | siteskills info <slug> | Show details about a skill | | siteskills uninstall <slug> | Remove an installed skill |

Publisher (requires API key)

| Command | Description | |---------|-------------| | siteskills login | Authenticate with your API key | | siteskills logout | Clear stored credentials | | siteskills init | Create a new SKILL.md in the current directory | | siteskills validate | Validate the current skill | | siteskills publish | Upload a SKILL.md to the marketplace | | siteskills update | Push a new version of an existing skill | | siteskills list | List your published skills | | siteskills unpublish <slug> | Remove a skill from the marketplace | | siteskills whoami | Show the current authenticated user |

Multi-Platform Install

When you run siteskills install <slug>, the CLI auto-detects every AI agent on your machine and installs to all of them at once:

| Agent | Install Path | |-------|-------------| | Claude Code | ~/.claude/skills/<slug>/SKILL.md | | Gemini CLI | ~/.gemini/skills/<slug>.md | | OpenAI Codex | ~/.codex/AGENTS.md (appended) | | Cursor | .cursor/rules/siteskill-<slug>.mdc | | Windsurf | .windsurf/rules/siteskill-<slug>.md | | Cline | ~/Documents/Cline/Rules/siteskill-<slug>.md | | Continue.dev | ~/.continue/rules/siteskill-<slug>.md | | GitHub Copilot | .github/instructions/siteskill-<slug>.instructions.md | | Aider | .aider.conf.yml + skills/ directory | | OpenHands | .openhands/microagents/siteskill-<slug>.md | | Roo Code | .roo/rules/siteskill-<slug>.md |

Publishing a Skill

  1. Create a SKILL.md:

    siteskills init
  2. Edit the generated SKILL.md to document your site

  3. Validate it:

    siteskills validate
  4. Get an API key at siteskills.ai/settings, then:

    siteskills login
    siteskills publish

Skills go through a 3-stage automated scan (format validation, security analysis, LLM review) before appearing in the marketplace.
