Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Skaflo 🏗️

Clean folder structures. Zero boilerplate. Your content, your way.

A focused CLI tool that generates organized folder structures for modern JavaScript/TypeScript projects. No files, no boilerplate, no assumptions – just clean, professional directory hierarchies that you can populate with your own content.

npm version License: MIT Build Status

🚀 Quick Start

# Install globally (npm)
npm install -g skaflo

# Or install globally (pnpm - recommended)
pnpm add -g skaflo

# Generate folder structure
skaflo create my-app

# Preview structure before creating
skaflo preview

# List available templates
skaflo list

# Or use npx (no installation required)
npx skaflo create my-app

✨ Why Skaflo?

Every developer has been there – staring at an empty folder, wondering how to organize their new project. Should components go in /src/components or /src/features/*/components? Where do utilities live? What about tests?

Skaflo solves this by:

  • 📁 Creating clean, organized folder structures without any files
  • 🎯 Supporting proven architectural patterns (feature-based, component-based)
  • No boilerplate files - you maintain complete control over your content
  • ⚡ Getting you from idea to organized structure in under 10 seconds
  • 🛡️ Smart validation prevents overwrites and ensures clean directory creation

🎯 Current Status: ✅ Phase 2 COMPLETE (v1.5)

✅ What's Working (v1.5)

  • Complete CLI with 3 commands: create, list, preview
  • Interactive prompts with framework and architecture selection
  • Folder-only generation - No files, no boilerplate, just clean structure
  • 11 Production Templates across 5 frameworks:
    • React: Feature-based & Component-based
    • Vue: Composition API & Nuxt 3
    • Next.js: App Router & Pages Router
    • Angular: Standalone & Feature-based
    • Express: Layered, MVC & Feature-based
  • Comprehensive validation with error handling and safety checks
  • Production ready with TypeScript, ESLint, and Jest

🚫 What Skaflo Does NOT Do

  • No file generation - We create folders only
  • No boilerplate code - You write your own content
  • No dependencies - You choose your own packages
  • No opinionated configurations - You control your setup

✨ Phase 2 Focus: Skaflo now supports 5 major frameworks with 18 production-ready templates. You maintain complete control over file content, dependencies, and configurations.
