Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

CLI for slashbin.io — webhook ETL and programmable gateway

Readme

slashbin-cli

slashbin-cli is a command-line client for slashbin.io, the webhook ETL and programmable gateway. It is a thin client over the same Console REST API the web UI uses, so the CLI and the Console always report the same data. The commands that operate your pipeline are authenticated calls to that API; reading and switching profiles, and inspecting the contract, are local — slashbin profile add is the exception, because it checks the key against the console before storing it. It is built for two audiences: engineers who would rather stay in a terminal or a CI script, and AI agents operating Slashbin on someone's behalf.

Install

npm install -g slashbin-cli

Node 20 or newer is required. The installed binary is slashbin. Confirm it landed on your PATH:

slashbin --version

The browser flow is the primary path — you never handle a key yourself.

slashbin login

This prints an authorization URL and a pairing code, opens your browser to the Console, and waits. Confirm the code in the browser matches the one in your terminal, approve it, and the Console mints an API key that the CLI writes to your profile.

On a remote shell with no browser, slashbin login --browserless skips opening a browser. The URL and the pairing code are printed either way, so you can copy them across yourself.

For CI and other non-interactive environments, pass a key in the environment instead:

SLASHBIN_API_KEY=slashbin_sk_... slashbin data-streams list

Or write a pasted key into a profile once with slashbin login --key <key>.

slashbin login creates a key for you, so you only need to mint one by hand for CI or to paste into a profile. Create one under API Keys. A key is shown once, at creation — copy it then, because it cannot be retrieved later.

However you signed in, verify it resolved to the right organization:

slashbin whoami

Profiles

Credentials are stored per profile under ~/.slashbin/. Run slashbin profile to keep more than one — a profile per organization, for example — and --profile <name> to select one for a single command. SLASHBIN_API_URL overrides the Console host a command talks to.

Commands

Some command groups are generated from the Console contract and move with it, which is why they are not reproduced here — a copy in this file would drift the moment a new operation ships. slashbin --help is the authoritative list, and slashbin <command> --help gives the flags for any one of them. Most commands accept --json, so output pipes straight into scripts and AI agents.
