Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Sloptastic

The content slop detector for SaaS founders. A Claude Code skill that interviews you about what you're about to build, scores it against proven BOFU methodology, and delivers a verdict.

Install

npx sloptastic

This installs the skill to ~/.claude/skills/sloptastic/. That's it.

Usage

In any Claude Code session:

/sloptastic

Or just say:

  • "Is this slop?"
  • "Slop check this content idea"
  • "Should I build this page?"

What it does

  1. Asks what you're building — blog post, comparison page, use case page, etc.
  2. Interviews you — 3-4 pointed questions specific to that content type
  3. Scores you — against 10 BOFU methodology signals
  4. Delivers a verdict:

| Verdict | Meaning | |---------|---------| | CLEAN | Solid BOFU thinking. Tips to make it better. | | SLOPPY | Borderline. Specific fixes to save it. | | SLOPTASTIC | Full slap. Full roast. What you should build instead. |

The 10 Slop Signals

  1. Intent — BOFU demand capture vs TOFU awareness
  2. Specificity — Segment-aware vs generic
  3. Evidence — Data-backed vs vibes only
  4. Switching narrative — Addresses competitor switching vs ignores it
  5. Competitor honesty — Pratfall effect vs fake checkmarks
  6. Real buyer query — Targets an actual search vs "we should write about..."
  7. Name-swap test — Breaks when you swap the company name vs works for anyone
  8. AI visibility — Structured for AI citation vs wall of text
  9. Template potential — Scalable to 10 more pages vs one-off
  10. Revenue path — Drives pipeline directly vs drives awareness maybe

Why

Most SaaS companies invest heavily in top-of-funnel awareness content and almost nothing in the pages that actually influence purchase decisions.

  • Comparison pages convert at 7.5%+ vs 0.5-2% for blog posts
  • 57% of the purchase decision is complete before contacting sales
  • One ranked comparison page drives more pipeline than a year of blog posts

Stop building slop. Build BOFU content.

By goBOFU

goBOFU builds bottom-of-funnel content infrastructure for SaaS companies — comparison pages, alternative pages, use case pages, and the content that actually converts.
