Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Generator for the React Starter Kit

React is a JavaScript library for building user interfaces.

  • Just the UI: Lots of people use React as the V in MVC. Since React makes no assumptions about the rest of your technology stack, it's easy to try it out on a small feature in an existing project.
  • Virtual DOM: React abstracts away the DOM from you, giving a simpler programming model and better performance. React can also render on the server using Node, and it can power native apps using React Native.
  • Data flow: React implements one-way reactive data flow which reduces boilerplate and is easier to reason about than traditional data binding.

This generator will scaffold out for you a project with the React Hello World example.

Learn more about how to use React in your own project.

Getting Started

Install slush-react-starter-kit globally:

$ npm install -g slush-react-starter-kit

Usage

Create a new folder for your project:

$ mkdir my-slush-react-starter-kit

Run the generator from within the new folder:

$ cd my-slush-react-starter-kit && slush react-starter-kit

You can use Gulp to preview your app by running gulp. This task will also reload watched files instantly with livereload. For more information, check out the gulpfile.js.

Options

  • --skip-install Skips the automatic execution of bower and npm after scaffolding has finished.
