Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

socketbench-fix-gateway

Thin WebSocket↔TCP/TLS relay so the browser-based SocketBench can talk to FIX acceptors (browsers cannot open raw TCP sockets).

Run

npx socketbench-fix-gateway              # listens on ws://localhost:9988
npx socketbench-fix-gateway -p 9100      # custom port (also --port 9100)

Then in SocketBench, pick the FIX protocol and set the gateway URL to ws://localhost:9988 (or your chosen port), plus the acceptor host/port and TLS toggle.

How it works

The browser connects with the target in the query string: ws://localhost:9988/?host=fix.venue.com&port=9823&tls=1. The gateway dials that host over TCP (or TLS), pumps bytes both ways, and splits the inbound stream into whole FIX messages on the 10=NNN checksum boundary. Its first WS message is a JSON control frame ({"type":"open"} / "error" / "close"); every later message is a raw FIX frame. It is not FIX-version-aware.
