Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

React components for Strapi Comment Manager plugin

Readme

Strapi Comments Client

Display comments from the Strapi Comment Manager plugin easily, using components styled with Bootstrap.

This component library fully supports Typescript.

Installation

This library requires react ^17.0.2, react-dom ^17.0.2, bootstrap ^5.1.3 and @popperjs/core^2.11.2.

npm install strapi-comments-client --save

Usage

This library exports three main components: CommentsProvider, Comments and CommentForm

The CommentsProvider component must wrap all the other components.

For example, this could be your index.js or main.js file:

import React from 'react'
import ReactDOM from 'react-dom'

import {
  CommentsProvider,
  Comments,
  CommentForm
} from "strapi-comments-client"

const STRAPI = "http://localhost:1337" // The address of your strapi backend

ReactDOM.render(
  <React.StrictMode>
    <CommentsProvider apiURL={STRAPI}>
      <App />
    </CommentsProvider>
  </React.StrictMode>,
  document.getElementById('root')
)

apiURL is the URL of your running Strapi application and this property is required.

Then you can place the Comments component anywhere in your app to load and render the comments and CommentForm to render a input for posting comments.

Here's how the interface looks like:

Comment sample

Updating the parameters for fetching and posting comments is done through a React.Context:

import { CommentsConfigContext } from "strapi-comments-client"

CommentsConfigContext returns two functions: setUser and setContentID

setContentID loads the comments for a given content. It receives a single parameter of type string and must be something that can be URLized i.e. no spaces.

setUser sets the user credentials for posting comments. It receives a single parameter of type IUser, which is a Typescript interface:

interface IUser {
  username: string,
  email: string,
  id: string,
  token: string
}

There's one more component that this library exports: ErrorBox

import { ErrorBox } from "strapi-comments-client"

All it does is display error messages when fetching or posting comments fail.
