Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Quill Field for Strapi

A custom field plugin for Strapi that provides an advanced rich text editor with enhanced formatting options. This plugin replaces the default Strapi editor with a Quill-based editor that supports font families, font sizes, colors, and more.

Features

  • Rich Text Formatting: Full support for text styling including bold, italic, underline, and strikethrough
  • Font Controls: Change font family and size
  • Color Options: Apply text and background colors
  • Text Alignment: Left, center, right, and justify alignment
  • Lists: Ordered and bullet lists
  • Headers: H1 through H6 heading styles
  • Media: Insert links and images
  • Clean Formatting: Remove all formatting with a single click
  • Seamless Integration: Works within Strapi's content management interface

Requirements

  • Strapi v5.18.1 or higher
  • Node.js 22.x or higher

Installation

# Using npm
npm install strapi-plugin-quill-field

# Using yarn
yarn add strapi-plugin-quill-field

After installing the package, you need to enable the plugin in your Strapi configuration:

  1. Open or create the file ./config/plugins.js in your Strapi project
  2. Add the following configuration:
module.exports = () => ({
  'quill-field': {
    enabled: true,
  },
});
  1. Restart your Strapi server

Usage

Once installed and enabled, the Quill Field will be available as a custom field type in the Content-Type Builder:

  1. Go to the Content-Type Builder in your Strapi admin panel
  2. Create a new field or edit an existing one
  3. In the field type selection, look for "Rich Text (Quill Field)" under the Custom section
  4. Save your changes

When editing content, the field will now use the Quill editor instead of the default Strapi editor, providing access to all the enhanced formatting options.

Configuration

The Quill editor comes pre-configured with a comprehensive toolbar that includes all the formatting options. The editor is designed to work seamlessly with Strapi's form system, supporting:

  • Required field validation
  • Disabled state
  • Error messages
  • Field descriptions
  • Internationalization (i18n)

Customizing Fonts, Colors, and Font Sizes

You can customize the fonts, colors, and font sizes available in the Quill editor by adding configuration options to your Strapi plugin configuration:

// ./config/plugins.js
module.exports = () => ({
  'quill-field': {
    enabled: true,
    config: {
      // Custom fonts to use in the editor
      customFonts: ['Arial', 'Courier', 'Garamond', 'Tahoma', 'Times New Roman', 'Verdana'],

      // Custom colors for text and background
      customColors: ['#000000', '#e60000', '#ff9900', '#ffff00', '#008a00', '#0066cc', '#9933ff', '#ffffff', '#facccc', '#ffebcc'],

      // Custom font sizes
      customFontSizes: ['small', false, 'large', 'huge', '20px', '30px'],

      // Custom formats (completely replaces the default formats)
      customFormats: [
        'header',
        'font',
        'size',
        'bold',
        'italic',
        'underline',
        'strike',
        'color',
        'background',
        'list',
        'bullet',
        'align',
        'link',
        'image',
      ],

      // Custom modules (advanced configuration)
      customModules: {
        // This will be merged with the default modules
        // You can provide a complete toolbar configuration here
        toolbar: [
          [{ header: [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, false] }],
          [{ font: [] }],
          [{ size: [] }],
          ['bold', 'italic', 'underline', 'strike'],
          [{ color: [] }, { background: [] }],
          [{ list: 'ordered' }, { list: 'bullet' }],
          [{ align: [] }],
          ['link', 'image'],
          ['clean'],
        ],
      },
    },
  },
});

Troubleshooting

  • If you encounter issues with the plugin not being recognized, ensure your Strapi version is compatible (v5.18.1 or higher)
  • Check that the plugin is properly enabled in your plugins.js configuration
  • Clear your browser cache and restart the Strapi server
  • Verify that the plugin is correctly installed by checking node_modules/strapi-plugin-quill-field
