Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

##Sample

Here we are calculating total BTC and Eth transactions over USD (ICO exchange rates are retrieved from bitfinex)

const sf = require('./pipeline.js');

var p = sf.Pipeline().withComponent(
                            sf.Zip("bitcoin-calculation")
                                .withProcess(function(p1,p2){
                                                            if (p1.vout.length == 0)
                                                                return {'amount' : 0}
                                                            var r = { 'amount': (p1.vout[0].amount * p2.body.result.price.last ) /1000000 }
                                                            return r;
                                                        })

sf.Source("btc-raw",sf.DataSourceType.GLOBAL)

btc-raw is a topic of BTC transactions and it is a global datasource. (Local datasources are the datasource created within the current pipeline.)

eth-pending is a topic of Ethereum pending transactions and it is a global datasource.

Conflation is function to reduce the stream data till its time of calculation comes.For ethereum pending we are summing up all the gas amounts.

}

Source Configuration;

For Ethereum ;

 sf.Source("ico-parity", sf.DataSourceType.GLOBAL, function(s) {
 			return s.ico == 'eth' &&
 				s.currency == 'usd' &&
 				s.market == 'bitfinex';
 		}

For Bitcoin ;

 sf.Source("ico-parity", sf.DataSourceType.GLOBAL, function(s) {
 			return s.ico == 'eth' &&
 				s.currency == 'usd' &&
 				s.market == 'bitfinex';
 		}

We are filtering bitfinex market values, ico types and exchange type(USD).

Process

...btc-trx .........................-->
...............................................bitcoin-calculation ..-->
...ico-parity(for btc) ........-->
.............................................................................................Combine
...eth-pending ...........-->
........................................ethereum-calculation ....-->
...ico-parity(for eth)....-->

Zip Configuration

Zip is used to process all the inputs at the same time and produces single output.

 sf.Zip("bitcoin-calculation")
 	.withProcess(function(p1, p2) {
 		if (p1.vout.length == 0)
 			return {
 				'amount': 0
 			}
 		var r = {
 			'amount': (p1.vout[0].amount * p2.body.result.price.last) / 1000000
 		}
 		return r;
 	})

Produces an output of product of BTC transaction amount and ico USD rate.

sf.Zip("ethereum-calculation")
	.withProcess(function(p1, p2) {
		var r = {
			'amount': (p1.gas * p2.body.result.price.last) / 1000000
		}
		return r;
	})

Produces an output of product of ETH transaction amount and ico USD rate.

sf.Zip("Combine", true)
	.withProcess(function(p1, p2) {
			return {
				"btc-usd-amount": p1.amount,
				"eth-usd-amount": p2.amount
			};
		}

Combines both amounts of ethereum and bitcoin transactions.

Integrations

Out of box Sinks are ;

  • Simple Sink, just finalize the stream flow, does nothing
  • Push notification sink
    • Custom Push Notification
    • Streamforge App Push Notification
  • WebSocket Sink
  • WebHook Sink
  • RDBMS Sink
  • API Sink , a generic built-in sink type. (Also API library can be used in the js file.)
