Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Platform-specific code optimization engine with native binary support for JavaScript/TypeScript

Readme

swift-optimizer

A platform-specific code optimization engine for JavaScript/TypeScript with native binary support.

swift-optimizer automatically detects your system's OS and CPU architecture, then downloads and manages the appropriate pre-compiled optimization binary during installation. This enables system-specific performance tuning and code optimization operations.

Similar to: esbuild (optimization), Puppeteer (binary management), Playwright (platform detection)

Features

  • Automatic Platform Detection - Detects OS, CPU architecture, Node version
  • Platform-Specific Binaries - Windows (x64, arm64), macOS (x64, arm64), Linux (x64, arm64, ia32)
  • Postinstall Binary Management - Automatically installs correct binary during npm install
  • Checksum Verification - Validates binary integrity using SHA256
  • Manifest Tracking - Records installation metadata and platform info
  • Fallback Support - Graceful degradation if binary unavailable
  • TypeScript Support - Full type definitions included
  • Cross-Platform - Works on Windows, macOS, and Linux

Installation

Prerequisites

  • Node.js 14+ (LTS recommended)
  • npm (included with Node.js)

Setup

npm install swift-optimizer

During installation, swift-optimizer will:

  1. Detect your platform and architecture
  2. Verify Node.js and OS compatibility
  3. Download the appropriate platform-specific binary
  4. Verify binary integrity with SHA256
  5. Create installation manifest

Usage

Basic Setup

import { createOptimizer } from 'swift-optimizer';

const optimizer = createOptimizer();
const status = optimizer.getStatus();

Platform Information

import { BinaryLocator } from 'swift-optimizer';

const locator = new BinaryLocator();
const info = locator.getPlatformInfo();

Code Optimization

import { Optimizer } from 'swift-optimizer';

const optimizer = new Optimizer();
const optimized = optimizer.optimize(code, { level: 3 });

Detailed Report

const optimizer = createOptimizer();
const report = optimizer.getReport();

Supported Platforms

| Platform | Architecture | Binary | |----------|--------------|--------| | Windows | x64 | swift-optimizer-x64.exe | | Windows | arm64 | swift-optimizer-arm64.exe | | macOS | x64 | swift-optimizer-x64 | | macOS | arm64 | swift-optimizer-arm64 | | Linux | x64 | swift-optimizer-x64 | | Linux | arm64 | swift-optimizer-arm64 | | Linux | ia32 | swift-optimizer-ia32 |
