Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

SwitchBot CLI command (unofficial)

English | 日本語

A command-line program for remote control of SwitchBot home automation devices.

How to install

npm install switchbot-cli

Getting started

First, you need to obtain a token and secret from the SwitchBot mobile app. In the app settings, tap the app version 10 times to reveal the developer menu. You can obtain the token and secret from there. When you run a command for the first time, you'll be prompted to enter the token and secret. Simply copy and paste them when prompted.

How to use

You can view available commands using the help command:

switchbot-cli help

Control device

Let's start by getting a list of devices:

switchbot-cli device list

To check the status of a device, use the deviceId obtained from the list above:

switchbot-cli device -d {deviceId} status

Device-specific commands can be viewed using help:

switchbot-cli device -d {deviceId} help

For example, to turn on a device, you can execute:

switchbot-cli device -d {deviceId} turnOn

If you find entering -d {deviceId} tedious, you can set a default device using the device use command:

switchbot-cli device use {deviceId}

Once registered, the -d {deviceId} option becomes optional. You can simply execute commands like this to control the default device:

switchbot-cli device turnOn
switchbot-cli device turnOff
switchbot-cli device status
...

Control scene

You can also control scenes registered in the SwitchBot app. Let's retrieve a list of scenes:

switchbot-cli scene list

To execute a scene, you'll need the sceneId obtained from the scene list command above. Execute it like this:

switchbot-cli scene exec {sceneId}

Clear config and cache

The token and secret are saved, and the device list is cached. You can clear all saved data using the following command:

switchbot-cli clean

Disclaimer

Webhook-related commands are not implemented Not all commands are implemented (contributions welcome) Some "device-specific" commands haven't been tested with actual devices (please let me know if you test them and they work!)
