Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

tally-svelte

Svelte 5 bindings for Tally. The engine lives in tally-core; this package binds a Grid to a component's lifecycle and exposes its stores as runes and stores. It renders nothing.

Not published yet.

Install

npm install tally-svelte tally-core svelte

Svelte 5.7 or newer. The package ships rune modules, so it is compiled by your Svelte toolchain.

Usage

<script lang="ts">
  import { createArraySource, createSchema } from 'tally-core'
  import { gridState, gridView, useGrid } from 'tally-svelte'

  let { rows } = $props()

  const schema = createSchema({
    key: 'id',
    columns: [
      { id: 'account', label: 'Account' },
      { id: 'mrr', label: 'MRR', type: 'currency', aggregate: 'sum' },
    ],
  })
  const source = createArraySource(rows, schema)

  const grid = useGrid(() => ({ schema, source }))
  const state = gridState(grid)
  const view = gridView(grid)
</script>

<p>{state.current.status}, sorted by {view.current.sort[0]?.column ?? 'nothing'}</p>
<button onclick={() => grid.current.view.toggleSort('mrr')}>Sort by MRR</button>

useGrid takes a getter so it can follow props. It creates a Grid from tally-core, loads it in an effect and disposes it when the component is destroyed. It recreates the grid when schema or source change identity, and when the format context changes, carrying the current view over.

Snapshots subscribe only while an effect reads them and read the engine directly otherwise.

API

| Function | Returns | | ---------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------- | | useGrid(options) | A ReactiveGrid whose current follows recreation. | | gridState(grid) | { current } with status, totals, aggregates and page. | | gridView(grid) | { current } with the current View. | | gridRows(grid) | { current } with loaded rows and changed cells. | | gridSelection(grid) | { current } with the active cell, ranges and selected rows. | | gridStores(grid) | state, view, rows and selection as readable stores. | | setGridContext(grid) | Shares a grid with descendants. | | getGridContext() | The shared grid as a ReactiveGrid. Throws without one. |

Every function that takes grid accepts a Grid or a ReactiveGrid. Derive narrower values with $derived.
