Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

taskdo

Runs exports from a javascript file as tasks, similar to gulp but simple and fexible.

Install:

> npm install -g taskdo

or install locally

> npm install --save-dev taskdo

Example:

tasks.js

exports.hello = function() {
    console.log('Hello!');
};

or ESM style:

export function hello() {
    console.log('Hello!');
}

Then run this:

> taskdo hello
Hello!

If no arguments are passed, it will try to run the default task.

tasks.js

exports.default = function() {
    console.log('Hello!');
};

OR

export default function() {
    console.log('Hello!');
}
> taskdo
Hello!

It can also run async function. List multiple tasks in the command-line to run each of them in sequental order.

Example:

taskdo will be able to run the tasks build-sass, build-hbs, and webpack.

You run each of them in order like this:

> taskdo build-sass build-hbs webpack

NOTE: Each task will run after the previous one finishes. Also, if one fails, the tasks after it won't run.

To run all three function in parallel, make a wrapper function for them:

export async function build() {
    await Promise.all([
        buildSass(),
        buildHbs(),
        webpack(),
    ]);
}

Then run:

> taskdo build

You can also call it from package.json:

    "scripts": {
        "build": "taskdo build",
    }
> npm run build

This way you'll be able to use the locally installed version of taskdo.
