Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

terminal-poker-cli

v0.1.2

Published

Terminal client for Terminal Poker – plan like a dev.

Readme

terminal-poker-cli

Terminal client for Terminal Poker — planning poker with a keyboard-first workflow. The CLI connects to a running Terminal Poker server (HTTP + Socket.IO); it does not bundle the backend or database.

Requirements

  • Node.js 18 or newer
  • A Terminal Poker server you can reach (self-hosted or another deployment)

Install

npm install -g terminal-poker-cli

Then run:

terminal-poker

You can also use npx without a global install:

npx terminal-poker-cli --server https://your-server.example.com

Usage

Command-line options

| Option | Short | Description | |--------|-------|-------------| | --server | -s | Server base URL (e.g. http://localhost:4000) | | --name | -n | Your display name | | --join | -j | Join a room immediately by code | | --observer | -o | Join as an observer | | --help | | Show help |

Examples

terminal-poker
terminal-poker --server http://localhost:4000
terminal-poker --join ABC12
terminal-poker --join ABC12 --observer
terminal-poker --server https://poker.example.com --name Alex

Inside the app

  • Commands are typed with a leading slash (e.g. /create, /join ROOMCODE, /vote 5). You can also submit a vote by typing a deck value directly when a round is open.
  • On the home screen you can set a default server with /server URL and your name with /name YourName; those defaults are stored locally.
  • Use /quit to exit the client.

Host (moderator) actions include /reveal, /next, /deck, /passcode, and others; voters use /vote or the deck value directly. The on-screen help lists commands for your current role.

Self-hosting the server

The CLI is only a client. To run your own stack, see the main repo: Terminal Poker — Getting Started and the docs/ folder there.

Developing this package (monorepo)

From the repository root:

pnpm install
pnpm --filter terminal-poker-cli build
node apps/cli/dist/index.js --server http://localhost:4000

Watch mode:

pnpm --filter terminal-poker-cli dev
