Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

textmyworker

v0.3.14

Published

TextMyWorker: text your AI worker (Telegram, Slack or the app). It runs Claude Code or OpenAI Codex on your Mac or Windows PC and reports back.

Readme

TextMyWorker

Claude Code To Go: text or voice-note your Claude Code from WhatsApp. It works on your computer (Mac or Windows) while you're out, and reports back.

Early access: https://textmyworker.com

Install

Once you're in, the bot sends you one line. Paste it in a terminal:

# Mac (Terminal)
curl -fsSL "https://relay.textmyworker.com/install" | bash

# Windows (PowerShell or Command Prompt): saves the installer to a file and runs it
powershell -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -c "irm 'https://relay.textmyworker.com/install.ps1' -OutFile ([IO.Path]::GetTempPath()+'textmyworker-install.ps1'); & ([IO.Path]::GetTempPath()+'textmyworker-install.ps1')"

It puts a private Node.js (and on Windows a private Git) in ~/.textmyworker, with no admin rights, then opens a setup window: it installs Claude Code if needed, signs you in, lets you pick the folder, and shows a QR code. Scan it, press Send in WhatsApp, and you're connected. Something stopped halfway? Run the same line again. No screen (SSH)? npx textmyworker connect does the same in the terminal.

Your worker only gets the keys you hand it

No MCP. No plugin. Just WhatsApp: we don't plug into your accounts.

  • Full access, one project, or just try it. At setup you choose: Full access (works like your own Claude Code: your projects and tools, after you confirm), one project folder, or a small sample project to try. With one project, file tools can't reach outside it, and on a Mac terminal commands also run in Claude Code's macOS sandbox (on Windows there is no system sandbox, see below). Full access has no folder fence or sandbox on either: there, your ✅ is the protection.
  • A clean profile. No MCP servers, connectors, skills or settings of yours unless you add them.
  • Risky actions wait for you. Deleting, git push, deploys and publishing, sending anything out and system commands send you a 🔐 button on WhatsApp first.
  • "stop" on WhatsApp stops it. textmyworker pause turns it off until resume.
  • A local log of every action: textmyworker log. It never leaves your computer.

Details and honest limits: https://textmyworker.com/how-it-works.html#access

Commands

The install line adds a textmyworker command (in ~/.local/bin) that works in any new terminal window. It runs the CLI with the private Node, which also goes at the end of your PATH, so a Node of your own always comes first and an older npx textmyworker ... line keeps working.

textmyworker scope what the worker can use
textmyworker scope add <folder> level 2: more project folders (scope remove <folder>)
textmyworker scope all level 3: your whole computer + your tools (asks you to confirm)
textmyworker scope safe | full one folder with approvals / back to full access
textmyworker scope reset back to one folder (also /scope reset on WhatsApp)
textmyworker scope domain add <domain> let terminal commands reach another domain
textmyworker tools how to give it a specific MCP tool
textmyworker pause | resume
textmyworker log
textmyworker update latest version, stays connected
textmyworker link whatsapp [--primary] also text this worker on WhatsApp (one-time code, 24 hours)
textmyworker link telegram | slack also text it on Telegram / Slack
textmyworker primary whatsapp|telegram where updates, approvals and summaries go

Access is widened only from your computer's terminal, never from WhatsApp.

Windows

Works on Windows 10 and 11. The install line brings everything it needs (Node, Git for Windows, Claude Code), without admin rights.

  • The install line adds the textmyworker command (%USERPROFILE%\.local\bin\textmyworker.cmd) and puts it and the private Node at the end of your user PATH, no admin needed. Open a new PowerShell or Command Prompt window to use it. Installed before this? & "$HOME\.textmyworker\node\npx.cmd" textmyworker ... in PowerShell works anyway.
  • The worker starts when you sign in to Windows (a TextMyWorker entry under your user's startup items, no admin needed), and keeps the PC awake while it runs.
  • No system sandbox on Windows. Claude Code's sandbox exists only on Mac and Linux. On Windows your protection is the folder limit (file tools), blocked secrets (SSH keys, cloud credentials, browser data, the Windows credential store) and your ✅ on WhatsApp before anything risky. A terminal command can still write outside the folder, so pick a folder you're comfortable with, and keep approvals on.

Connected before 0.2? update changes nothing about access: full access and your own tools stay. textmyworker scope safe switches to one folder with approvals.
