Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

A Tiny DOM Manipulation Library. Tez means fast in Hindi.

Install

tez-dom is a Native Javascript Module which you can import in your project.

From NPM:

npm i tez-dom

From CDN:

import { ready, qs, on } from 'https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/gh/rwbeast/tez-dom/dist/tez-dom.min.js';

const initApp = () => {

  const btn = qs('#btn');

  const greet = () => console.log('Hello world');

  on(btn, 'click', greet);

};

ready(initApp);

Usage

Querying elements

import { qs, qsa } from './tez-dom.js';

const elem = qs("#test"); // document.querySelector

const elems = qsa("div"); // document.querySelectorAll

Creating elements

import { el } from './tez-dom.js';

const btn = el('button'); // Output: <button></button>

const foo = el('.class1.class2#foo'); // Output: <div id="foo" class="class1 class2"></div>

const svg = el('svg', true); // for creating SVG elements, pass true as the second argument

const path = el('path', true);

Note: When you have to append an element to the DOM that's going to contain several other child elements, you should first append its child nodes to a DocumentFragment, which you can create using the frag() function included in the library. and append the childnodes to it first and then to the parent element.

Example:

import { el, frag } from './tez-dom.js';

const createItem = task => {
  const item = el('li.item');
  item.textContent = task;

  return item;
};

const createList = tasks => {
  const list = el('ul.list');
  const items = tasks.map(createItem);
  const fragment = frag();

  fragment.append(...items);
  list.appendChild(fragment);

  return list;
};

document.body.appendChild(createList(['Buy Milk', 'Buy Tea', 'Water Plants']));

Handling events

import { on, off, ready } from './tez-dom.js';

const greet = () => console.log("hello world");

on(button, "click", greet); // addEventListener

off(button, "click", greet); // removeEventListener

ready(() => {
  // Your code which you want to run after the DOM has loaded.
});

Attributes and CSS styling

import { style, attr } from './tez-dom.js';

style(elem, { color: "red", background: "blue" }); // adding multiple styles to an element

console.log(attr(elem, "id")); // getAttribute

attr(elem, "id", "test"); // setAttribute

attr(elem, "disabled", false); // removeAttribute
