Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

A local UI for your locales. No cloud, no account, just your files.

Features

  • Edit translations — Inline editing with auto-save
  • Nested keys — Supports dot notation (e.g. common.greeting)

  • Bulk translate — Fill all missing values at once
  • Metadata — Notes, tags, and status per key
  • Search & filter — Find keys quickly, show/hide languages

Quick Start

npx tolka-cli [/path/to/your/locales]

Starts a local server at http://localhost:3000. Defaults to ./src/locales if no path is given.

File Format

Expects JSON files in the specified directory:

locales/

├── fr.json
└── de.json

Each locale file is a flat or nested JSON object:

AI Translation

To use AI-powered translation, set your OpenAI API key:
