Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

toolproof-scan

Trust grades for MCP servers and APIs — the verify step for the agent economy.

Zero-dependency CLI that asks the Toolproof verify API for a signed trust passport (ed25519) and prints the verdict. Works from any terminal and from CI.

Usage

npx toolproof-scan mcp.context7.com/mcp

Example output:

TOOLPROOF · mcp.context7.com
verified · grade A+ · score 100/100
Clean scan — no agent-hijack patterns found.
  [TP-202]
  + HTTPS enforced
+ Server instructions captured and reviewed
  + MCP surface verified — 2 tool(s) inspected
card: https://toolproof-scan.vercel.app/t?target=mcp.context7.com%2Fmcp&kind=mcp

Multiple targets are scanned sequentially with a blank line between blocks.

Flags

| Flag | Meaning | | --- | --- | | --json | Print the raw signed passport JSON | | --kind=auto\|mcp\|api | Target kind (default auto) | | --fail-under=<0-100> | Exit 1 when verified with score below N, or when unverified | | --api=<url> | Verify API base URL (default https://toolproof-scan.vercel.app) | | --timeout=<ms> | Request timeout in milliseconds (default 30000) | | -h, --help | Show help |

Colors are disabled automatically when NO_COLOR is set or stdout is not a TTY.

Exit codes

  • 0 — verified — or a respected opt-out — and the score meets --fail-under
  • 1 — unverified, or verified with score below --fail-under
  • 2 — usage or network error

CI (GitHub Actions)

- name: Trust-check our MCP server
  run: npx toolproof-scan https://our-mcp.example.com/mcp --fail-under 70

A non-passing grade fails the step via exit code 1; usage or network problems fail with exit code 2.

Published package

toolproof-scan is public on npm. Run it without a global install:

npx -y toolproof-scan https://mcp.example.com/mcp --fail-under 70
