Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

Shannon

A local-first, BYOK ("bring your own keys") AI whiteboard. Infinite canvas for notes, chat, drawings, math, graphs, charts, tables, PDFs, and embeds — with your chosen LLM and search providers wired in.

Install

npm install -g tryshannon
shannon              # http://localhost:1948

Or run without installing:

npx tryshannon

The default port (1948) is the year of Shannon's A Mathematical Theory of Communication. Override with PORT=1234 shannon.

After launch, open the app, go to Model in the sidebar, and paste your provider API keys. Keys live in ~/.shannon/config.json (mode 0600) and never leave your machine except as outbound calls to the provider.
