Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

A minimalist terminal-based typing tool

Readme

typecraft-cli ⚡

typecraft-cli is a minimal, AI-powered static analysis CLI tool that automatically detects missing TypeScript type definitions and generates accurate annotations using Hugging Face LLMs.

Instead of cluttering your terminal with clumsy or unreadable raw strings, typecraft-cli cleanly extracts AI suggestions and writes them directly into a beautifully organized file named type-checker.md right inside your working directory.

🚀 Features

  • Automated Type Detection: Scans your TypeScript files to catch missing implicit any types or unannotated parameters.
  • AI-Powered Annotations: Leverages specialized open-source models via Hugging Face to generate precise TypeScript types.
  • Clean Markdown Reports: Automatically pipes and streams the AI responses into a dedicated type-checker.md file, making it easy to read side-by-side with your code in your favorite IDE.
  • Zero CLI Clutter: Keeps your terminal workspace clean while delivering comprehensive code fixes locally.

🔑 Prerequisites

This tool uses a Hugging Face model to process your code and generate type-fix suggestions. You will need an API token to get started:

  1. Grab a free API token directly from your Hugging Face Settings.
  2. Create a .env file in the root directory of the project you want to scan.
  3. Add your token to the file like this:
   HF_TOKEN=your_hf_token_here

## 📦 Installation

Install the package globally or locally via npm:

# Run instantly without installing
npx typecraft-cli

# Or install globally on your system
npm install -g typecraft-cli

## Usage

⚠️ **CRITICAL:** You must run this command strictly from your project's **root directory** (where your `package.json` and `.env` file reside). Do not execute this command from `src/` or any other subdirectories.

Simply execute the command in the root folder of your TypeScript project:

```bash
typecraft-cli
