Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

UCP MCP Proxy

A simple proxy connector that allows local AI agents (Claude Desktop, Cline, etc.) to communicate with UCP-enabled WordPress sites via the Model Context Protocol (MCP).

⚠️ EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY
This package is a demonstration of the Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP) and Model Context Protocol (MCP) integration. It is intended for learning, testing, and development. Do not use this in a mission-critical or high-security production environment.

🚀 How to Use

This proxy is designed to be run automatically by your AI agent (like Claude Desktop or Cline) in the background. You do not need to manually run commands in your terminal to keep it open.

We use npx so the agent always fetches the latest version without you needing to manage installations.

Setup Instructions

1. Locate your Agent's Config File

  • Claude Desktop (Mac): ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json
  • Claude Desktop (Windows): %APPDATA%\Claude\claude_desktop_config.json
  • Cline (VS Code): .cline/mcp.json (inside your workspace)

2. Add the Server Configuration Open the config file and add the following entry to the "mcpServers" object.
Make sure to replace the URL with your actual WordPress UCP endpoint.

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "my-woocommerce-store": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "ucp-mcp-proxy",
        "https://your-wordpress-site.com/wp-json/ucp/v1/mcp"
      ]
    }
  }
}

3. Restart Your Agent

  • Fully quit and restart Claude Desktop.
  • Or reload your VS Code window.

Your agent will now boot up this proxy silently in the background and connect to your store!

2. Debugging

If you are having connection issues, you can append the --debug flag. The logs will be printed to your agent's stderr logs.

      "args": [
        "-y",
        "ucp-mcp-proxy",
        "https://your-wordpress-site.com/wp-json/ucp/v1/mcp",
        "--debug"
      ]
