Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

unspin

Add plain English explanations to Claude Code's spinner verbs.

Before:

· Prestidigitating... (thinking)

After:

· Prestidigitating [doing magic tricks]... (thinking)

Install

npx unspin

That's it. Your Claude Code spinner verbs now include explanations.

Commands

npx unspin            # Install annotated verbs
npx unspin --undo     # Restore Claude Code defaults
npx unspin --list     # See all verbs and their meanings
npx unspin --dry-run  # Preview without changing anything
npx unspin --force    # Override existing custom verbs

How it works

unspin writes to ~/.claude/settings.json, setting spinnerVerbs with mode: "replace". Each of Claude Code's ~185 default spinner verbs gets a bracketed explanation appended:

Cogitating [thinking deeply]
Flibbertigibbeting [chattering wildly]
Prestidigitating [doing magic tricks]

To go back to normal, run npx unspin --undo.
